Installing Android SDK on Linux

With the fast development pace of Android, now Android SDK's recent release is Android SDK release 6. If you are interested in Android development on Linux operating system, you can install the latest release of SDK which now also support Android 2.2 a.k.a. Froyo, the latest Android version in the market.

Installing Android SDK on Linux is a little bit hassle. You first have to download SDK in the official Android site, decompressing, setting up rules to connect your handset to the ADB (Android Debug Bridge), and other things to do. Fortunately, LrdElderon has written a script to automate those process, it is called v2 Linux SDK/ADB auto installer which you can download here.

The script will do downloading, extracting, and setting up rules for you.
